A Composer and Producer with a rich musical vocabulary that maintains a distinct sense of style, dedicated to creating music that is sincere, captivating, and fresh. Dries Versmissen is a Belgian musician/composer specialized in music for film, arrangement, and orchestration. His music has been screened at film and music festivals worldwide, primarily in Europe.

Dries explores a range of musical genres such as contemporary classical, cinematic orchestral, experimental, ambient, and rock, among others. This versatility allows him to craft compositions that transcend traditional boundaries, creating a distinctive sonic identity.

Dries studied composition (including composition for screen) in Belgium, Italy, and France under notable composers such as Dirk Brossé, Ruben DeGheselle, Steve Willaert, and others. Having lived and worked as a musician in Belgium, Italy, and France, Dries collaborated with renowned filmmakers, music ensembles, and visual artists.

As one of the first generations of composers participating in the International Master in Composition for Screen (InMICS) academic initiative, Dries has had a unique opportunity to learn from masters of the film music world, including Hildur Guðnadóttir, Max Richter, Martin Phipps, Daniel Pemberton, Marcin Przybyłowicz, Natalie Holt, Florencia di Concilio, among others.

Specializing in electroacoustic music, Dries infuses unique colors into his compositions. His experience in arranging and orchestrating contributes to the immersive quality of his work, providing depth and richness.

Currently collaborating with Jan De Cat on the production of his album ‘The Mountain,’ set for release in March 2024, and engaging in a film production with ‘Fortis Capulus Films,’ Dries Versmissen stands at the intersection of tradition and innovation. He combines classical foundations with a forward-looking approach, creating music that resonates across genres and mediums.
